XFEM4U is powerful structural analysis and design software
XFEM4U is the MOST intuitive structural analysis and design software for 3D models of any structure. Consider, for example, a calculation of 3d frameworks in steel and/or wood, concrete beam grids, foundation slabs on an elastic soil, point-supported concrete flat slabs, walls, and so on. Whether or not combined in one model.
User friendly and modern
The CAD like user interface ensures fluid performance and enables fast input of your structure in 3D. The program is very easy to use (even without reading the manual first), intuitive, modern and incredibly fast. XFEM4U uses OpenGL technology. Snap functions to existing nodes, plates, beams, gridlines, X-, Y- and Z-axis, but also Copy-, Mirror-, Multiple copy-, Rotate -functions enables you to enter your structure into the 3D-modeler easy and fast.
EN 1993 steel design module
XFEM4U has a fully integrated Eurocode EN 1993 steel design module. Steel test / design rules according to the newest / latest European standards. You are up-to-date with the latest standards. In XFEM4U all Eurocode design checks are based on a geometrically non-linear analysis. Imperfections (initial sway imperfections) will be automatically included in calculating load combination(s). This is a very accurate calculation method and is applicable for every type of frame. Sway or braced/non-sway frames. Also, there is no need to calculate (error-prone) buckling lengths any more. The geometrical non- linear analysis (Second-order analysis) ensures global buckling stability check. XFEM4U helps you.
There is a Steel Optimization module built in that allows you to quickly and easily create the most optimal steel design. You can save a lot of steel kilos with this.
Integrated EN 1993-1-8 steel connection module
XFEM4U has a fully integrated EN 1993-1-8 steel connection module. Beam-column moment joints can be easily entered. Why?
The rotational stiffness of the connections is load-dependent and influences the global analysis. In XFEM4U, the load-dependent rotational rigidity is considered for all (semi) rigid connections automatically. This of course gives the most accurate result and leads to an economically optimal design.
At small moments (under 2/3 Mj, Rd), initial rotational stiffness Sj, ini is calculated. At larger moments with the rotational stiffness Sj corresponding to the bending moment Mj, Ed. The trilinear rotational rigidity diagram is used.
Steel structures can now be a lot cheaper
By already considering flexible (semi rigid) connections instead of fully rigid connections in the design of the main structure, connections can become much cheaper and a correct global analysis is calculated. With XFEM4U, the engineer quickly and easily makes an economic design of the steel structure including all (semi) rigid connections.
This also saves the costs of a detailing engineer.
EN 1992 concrete design module
Concrete beam grids / Piled concrete foundations.
XFEM4U has a fully integrated Eurocode EN 1992-1-1 concrete module which allows you to design and check the reinforcement. You are also able to interactively change all your reinforcement, longitudinal primary and secondary reinforcement, and stirrups as well. Fast and easy. The concrete beams will be checked completely after every input change. The calculation is complete: checks in Ultimate Limit State (ULS) and Service Limit State (SLS). Almost any cross-section shape with or without a concrete layer; reinforcement in 2 layers; compression reinforcement; accurate long-term deflection calculation; detailed calculation report.
FEM - EN 1992 concrete design module
XFEM4U has a fully integrated Eurocode EN 1992-1-1 concrete module which allows you to design and check your reinforcement. The calculation is complete: checks in Ultimate Limit State (ULS) and Service Limit State (SLS).
We have an effective and especially pleasant cooperation with professor dr.ir. Johan Blaauwendraad and dr.ir.drs. René Braam. They have developed a calculation method with which reinforcement in a plate or shell can be designed efficiently. Johan has also advised us to use hybrid quadrilateral elements because they enable us to determine an accurate shear force. Johan has supported us in the realization and implementation of this.
In the professional magazine Cement edition 2021-8 there is an article written by professor dr.ir. Johan Blaauwendraad and dr.ir.drs. René Braam about the calculation with such a hybrid plate/shell element as implemented by Struct4U by now.
To be able to calculate quadrilateral elements we also had to incorporate another mesh-er. And that’s what we did. That one works really great and is also more intuitive
FEM – powerful mesh tool
The built-in mesh tool is really great. It generates regular meshes, which of course gives accurate calculation results. You can arbitrarily add nodes and (dummy) beams. Per node you can specify mesh refinements or magnifications. Any node and beam loads. In a plate any hole can be entered. The mesh tool takes this all into account. You can create your mesh very easily and quickly.

Unique transparent calculation output
All required and used EN formulas and equations are fully displayed and written out, including actual parameters and references to the Eurocode. In our program the calculation with outcome is obvious. XFEM4U creates a fully transparent calculation report. Being an engineer you will be able to check the produced calculation manually and easily. That will give you confidence! Each inspecting authority will accept your calculation without any problem since the report is obvious for all.
